In the old, charming town Kulhuse you will find a cosy harbour, a good beach, scenic nature as well as peace and quiet.


Holiday Kulhuse, Sealand, DenmarkKulhuse is situated on the tip of the area 'Hornsherred' in North Sealand, right by the inlet 'Isefjord'. Kulhuse is connected with Sølager through a ferry. The ferry carries both bicycles and cars, and the sail lasts no more than 8 minutes.
Kulhuse is an old town, and the well-preserved and charming houses bear witness of that. The harbour of Kulhuse was established in 1635. You can launch your own boat from the harbour. In this evocative environment you will also find the inn 'Kulhuse Kro', from which you can enjoy the scenic view of the water.
You will find good shopping possibilities in town. The nearest larger town is Frederikssund, which is situated 17 km from Kulhuse.


Beach
The beach of Kulhuse is a lovely, sandy beach with grassy areas and plantation at the back. The small beach is situated by the harbour of Kulhuse and has Blue Flag. The inlet between Kulhuse and Lynæs offers extremely good conditions for windsurfing.

Nature
KulhuseKulhuse is surrounded by a varying and lush landscape, which is often uses as military defence holdings, for which reason noise can occur at times.
The nearby forest 'Nordskoven' contains Denmark's oldest oaks. The area offers a number of walking and bicycle paths.
With its 40 square kilometres the lake 'Arresø' is the largest lake in Denmark. Here you will find good opportunities for walks and bicycle rides along the lake. The route around the lake is 50 km long (11 km).
'Tibirke Bakker' is a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From a viewpoint in the area you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Gribskov' and a bite of the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord'.
'Heatherhill' by Rågeleje is a beautiful, preserved and undulating area with large heathery hills, which lead all the way down to the Kattegat. The main part of 'Heatherhill' is covered with moor and heather, and the sheeps walk around freely on the heathery hills (28 km).


Activities
In this area, anglers will find good opportunities from the shores, on the sea or in one of the nearby Put & Take fishponds.
Golf players can try out some of the many courses of this area. The courses of 'Frederikssund Golf Klub' and 'Asserbo Golf Club' are the ones that are situated closest to Kulhuse.
The forest 'Nordskoven' invites walks and bicycle trips along the many marked paths.


Worth a visit
KulhuseAt the mediaeval castle 'Jægerspris Slot' you can experience e a memorial place, exhibitions and a beautiful palace garden. The mill 'Jægerspris Mølle' is still running, and in the summer you can buy freshly milled flour here.
In the botanical garden 'Gerlevparken' by Jægerspris you can admire more than 5,000 plants (10 km).
Frederikssund is a cosy commercial town by the inlet with a pedestrian street, shops and good restaurants, but the town is also the domicile for the Vikings, and during the summer, viking plays are presented here (17 km).
The viking village by Frederikssund is a scenically situated and well-preserved village with houses and ships.
The doll and toy museum 'Skuldelev Dukke- og Legetøjsmuseum' contains more than 4,000 dolls as well as a large collection of boy's and girl's toys from the period 1830-1950 (20 km).

Excursion spots
The amusement park 'Nordsjællands Sommerpark' in Græsted is a cornucopia of amusements and activities for both children and adults. Among other things it offers a jungle path and a water world (24 km).
By Skibby you can visit the Renaissance castle 'Selsø Slot' with i.a. the country's most aristocratic baronial hall with giant paintings, various exhibitions, the oldest intact kitchen in Denmark as well as a dungeon (24 km).
Helsinge is an active and cosy commercial town with sights, pedestrian street, fountains, shops and restaurants (24 km).
At the viking museum 'Vikingemuseet' in Roskilde you will get acquainted with the interesting story of the Vikings. You can also sail on the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord' onboard one of the ships of the museum (45 km).
Visit the capital Copenhagen with sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (61 km).
