The area Haraldsted Sø offers lovely nature experiences directly by the lake of the same name.
 Try to spend your holiday only a few metres from a lake. Haraldsted Sø does not only offer clear bathing water, but also a scenic nature, which can be experienced on a walk along the shore. It is possible to buy groceries within a radius of a few km. Historic experiences await you in the small village Haraldsted (2 km), where you can learn more about former dramatic events. Ringsted (7 km), one of Denmark's oldest towns, is also situated in this area. Ringsted is famous for it¿s characteristic, reed tiles, and the town offers good shopping possibilities.
Beach
It is possible to swim in the lake Haraldsted Sø, which has the Blue Flag. The lake is situated only a few metres from the holiday house area.
If you wish to swim in the sea, the beach of Køge (32 km) is recommendable. This beach is a fine, sandy beach with lovely bathing water.
Nature
Haraldsted is situated in an elongated valley, which arose during the last ice age. Along the northern shore of the lake Haraldsted Sø, from the dam by the western end and to the forest 'Vrangskov', you can follow a 5.5 km long, marked walking path. The forest 'Vrangskov' is characterized by beeches, which grow on the steep slopes, all the way down to the lake. Springs are gushing from the foot of the slopes, and here the small herb golden saxifrage grows.
About 59 km towards south-east the 15 km long cliff 'Stevns Klint' is situated. The white chalk cliffs raise more than 40 metres from the coast. Experience the remarkable cliff from the viewpoints, from which 'Flagbanken' provides you with the most spectacular sights.
Activities
You are only allowed to fish in Haraldsted Sø if you are a member of the local sports club, but the stream 'Ringsted Å', which takes its rise in Haraldsted Sø, offers good fishing opportunities.
Golf players can test the course of 'Skjoldenæsholm Golf Center', which is scenically situated about 9 km from the holiday area.
The lovely nature of the area invites walks and bicycle rides. You can rent bicycles in Ringsted (7 km). Ringsted also offers a modern bowling alley with restaurant, café and one-armed bandits.
Worth a visit
The village Haraldsted (2 km) became famous because of the dramatic murder of the duke Knud Lavard in the 12th. century, and the chapel of Knud Lavards Kapel (4 km) was the centre of the martyr Knud Lavand during the catholic time.
The church of Haraldsted originates from the 12th. century (2 km).
The fortress 'Ridebanen' is situated by the northern shore of Haraldsted Sø and is a former historic refuge.
The adventure land 'Fantasy World' by Ringsted is a world of fairytales and magic. A fascinating and mechanical fantasy world with i.a. trolls, pixies and colourful animals (6 km).
Ringsted (7 km) is one of Denmark's oldest towns. Here you will find the combined museum and windmill 'Ringsted Museum & Vindmølle', which is a culture-historical museum. The windmill, belonging to the museum, still produces ecological flour. The nearby radio museum exhibits radio object from the period 1880-1980.
Excursion spots
The castle 'Gjorslev Slot' is build out of limestone from the cliff 'Stevns Klint'. A moat and a lovely park in English style surround the castle. You can take part in a guided tour on the castle (21 km).
Visit Køge with the cosy old quarter, an evocative marina, the museums 'Køge Skitsesamling', 'Køge Museum' and 'Køge Legetøjsmuseum', a spellbinding church, the pedestrian street, the marked days and the good restaurants (32 km).
During the summer you can experience plays with Vikings in Frederikssund (58 km). Frederikssund also offers 'J.F. Willumsens Museum', which exhibits works of the artist J.F. Willumsen. The collection contains paintings, drawings, graphics, pottery, sculptures and photos.
Visit the capital Copenhagen with the vivid culture life, museums, music, theatres, galleries, the pedestrian street 'Strøget' and sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo etc (72 km).
