The idyllic area Buresø is surrounded by a unique nature and situated between the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord' and the sound 'Øresund'.
 The forests 'Uggeløse Skov', 'Ganløse Eged' and 'Slagskunde Skov' as well as the ridge 'Slangerup Ås', surround Buresø. Enjoy your holiday here with all of your senses, as the area offers a tempting nature, numerous leisure activities, cultural sights and of course the capital Copenhagen, which lies only 35 km from Buresø. It is possible to buy groceries within a radius of 2 km, and in the vivid town of Slangerup (4 km) you will find a number of shops. The nearest larger town is Frederikssund, the domicile of the Vikings, which offers a pedestrian street, shops and good restaurants (12 km).
Beach
You will find a very popular bathing lake with clear water right by Buresø. By the lake you will also find a sandy beach and a bathing jetty.
It is also possible to swim in the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord', f.x. by the beach 'Marbæk Strandpark' (14 km), which has a sandy bottom and shallow water. You can also play beach volley here.
The distance to the best bathing beaches of the sound 'Øresund' is 34 km, and as an example the beach of Skodsborg can be recommended. Here you can sunbathe in the grass or play ball. The beach of Lokeshøj/Frydenlund, which is very suitable for children, is also worth a visit.
Nature
Buresø is situated in the nature park between Farum and Slangerup. Forests, lakes, wetlands, fields and untouched areas characterize the area. Enjoy the wide view of the landscape with the old villages and the many lakes. The lake Buresø is one of the largest lakes in the area.
The distance to Denmark's largest lake 'Arresø' is only 22 km. Here you will find good opportunities for a walk or a bicycle ride around the lake. The path, surrounding the lake, is 50 km long.
The hilly area 'Tibirke Bakker' (39 km) is a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From a viewpoint in the area you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Gribskov' and a bite of the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord'.
Activities
6 of Denmark's best golf courses are located in North Sealand. By the lake 'Bastrup Sø' (5 km) you will find the 18-holw course of 'Molleåens Golfklub'. The golf course of 'Asserbo Golfklub' (27 km) is the oldest and one of the best in Denmark. It is situated in a scenic nature area by the hill 'Arrenakke Bakke' and offers challenges for both beginners and experienced players.
Anglers will find good opportunities in the lake Buresø, from the shore, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area, from a rented boat or onboard a fishing vessel on the sea.
By Rågeleje (42 km) you will find the area 'Heatherhill'. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes 'Heatherhill' an ideal place for paragliders. The wind also creates good conditions for windsurfers.
Should the weather let you down, you can visit the swimming baths in Slangerup (5 km), where you can also make use of a sauna.
In Slangerup you can also rent bicycles.
Worth a visit
Visit Slangerup with the magnificent church 'Skt. Mikaels Kirke'. The large Renaissance building is situated on a hill, which was a holy place during the heathen times. Enjoy the unique light conditions inside the church, which are created through the 12 Gothic inspired windows. In Slangerup you will also find 'Den Gamle Smedje' (the old forge), where you can experience a genuine old town forge from the year 1900. The ecological garden of the forge is also worth.
During the summer you can experience plays with Vikings in Frederikssund (12 km). Frederikssund also offers the museum 'J.F. Willumsens Museum', which solemnly exhibits works of the artist J.F. Willumsen. The collection contains paintings, drawings, graphics, pottery, sculptures and photos.
The viking village 'Vikingelandsbyen' by Frederikssund is a lovely situated and well-preserved village with houses and ships.
Excursion spots
Visit the beautiful castle 'Fredensborg Slot' and take part in a guided tour (31 km).
Visit the capital Copenhagen with sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the adventure centre 'Eksperimentarium', the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (35 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (36 km).
In a distance of 39 km you will find the old Cistercian convent 'Esrum Kloster' from the year 1151 in the middle of an untouched landscape of forest and fields. The buildings of the convent contain various exhibitions and in the beautiful garden a number of herbs are growing.
The amusement park 'Nordsjællands Sommerpark' in Græsted is a cornucopia of amusements and activities for both children and adults. Among other things it offers a jungle path and a water world.
