Ålsgårde is a small and tempting fishing town by the sound 'Øresund', only 6 km from Helsingør.
 The fishing town Ålsgårde is one of the best spots for deep-sea fishing in Denmark. Enjoy the holiday area, which is a lovely mixture of beautiful nature with forest and numerous cultural offers in the surrounding towns.
It is possible to buy groceries within a radius of 2 km. The harbour town Helsingør offers a number of shops, restaurants, leisure activities, the beautiful castle 'Kronborg Slot' as well as other interesting sights (6 km).
Beach
The beach of Ålsgårde is a small, white and sandy beach with a bathing jetty.
A 4 km bicycle trip through the plantation 'Hornbæk Plantage' leads you to the beach of Hornbæk. This beach is a magnificent bathing beach with fine sand, shallow water, high dunes and Blue Flag. The beach is very suitable for children. During the summer, lifeguards keep an eye out for the bathers. Beach activities like water cycling, beach volley and windsurfing are popular here.
The harbour of Hornbæk is situated behind the beach, and the piers make sure that the beach only has fine sand.
Nature
Lakes, fields, forests and sea characterize the landscape, surrounding Ålsgårde. The undulating terrain provides you with more good viewpoints. Between Ålsgårde and Hornbæk you will find the plantation 'Hornbæk Plantage', which has a rich vegetation and animal life as well as many marked walking and bicycle routes. The lake 'Hornbæk Sø' is surrounded by buildings and a park, and it is possible to cycle or walk around the lake.
In North Zealand you will also find two of Denmark's largest lakes, 'Arresø' and 'Esrum Sø', as well as the beautiful forest 'Gribskov', which is one of the largest deciduous forests in the country.
Activities
Close to Ålsgårde you can play minigolf, tennis, beach volley, windsurf, ride on horseback, drive in a horse drawn carriage or take a drive in a vintage train.
6 of Denmark's best golf courses are situated in North Sealand. Only 12 km from Ålsgårde you can make use of the 18-hole course of 'Hornbæk Golfklub', which is situated in a hilly landscape with lakes, streams and forest. This golf course is one of the longest in the country. The course of 'Asserbo Golfklub' (44 km) is one of the oldest and best courses in Denmark, and it is situated in an outstanding nature area by the hill 'Arnakke Bakke' The course offers challenges for both beginners and experiences golf players.
Anglers will find good fishing opportunities along the shores, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area and on the sea - from a dinghy or onboard a fishing vessel.
Worth a visit
Enjoy the sight of the many old houses in Ålsgårde, like f.x. the half-timbered house 'Anes Hus' in the forest 'Hammermølle Skov' or the merchant's house, where you can visit the restaurant 'Jan Hurtigkarl og Co'.
The church of Hellebæk was built in the Baroque style in 1920. From the church you can see all the way to Sweden.
'Hammermøllen' is a restored watermill, which today function as a museum (1 km)
The art museum 'Hornbæk Kunstmuseum' is a cultural rendezvous with changing art exhibitions (8 km).
At the museum 'Rudolf Tegners Museum' in Dronningmølle the plaster and marble sculptures of the sculptor Tegner are exhibited (15 km).
In Dronningmølle you will also find 'Munkeruphus' - a preserved and idyllically situated country house, which is used for displaying art, handicraft, design, architecture and theme exhibitions.
Excursion spots
Take a trip to Sweden - the sail with the ferry from Helsingør to Helsingborg takes 20 minutes.
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (15 km).
The old Cistercian convent 'Esrum Kloster' from the year 1151 is scenically situated in an untouched landscape of forests and fields, by the lake 'Esrum Sø'. The convent offers varying exhibitions and it has a beautiful convent garden and a small convent pharmacy (16 km).
The 'Karen Blixen Museum' at Rungstedlund has been established with gallery, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library room and a café.
Experience the capital Copenhagen with the vivid culture life, museums, music, theatres, galleries, the pedestrian street 'Strøget' and sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo etc. (52 km).
