Experiences on Rømø

Rømø is much more than great nature experiences.

Every year in September kite enthusiasts from all of Denmark gather here to turn the sky over the beach Lakolk Strand into a genuine firework display of colourful kites.

The bravest ones can learn how to fly a blo-cart, which resembles a surfboard and is steered like a bicycle. You sail across the beach on 3 wheels with full wind in the sail and without brakes! Still any 6-year-old can learn to steer it within a short while.

Windsurfing is also a very popular activity along the shores of Rømø. Special areas have been established for both windsurfers and blo-carts, and here you can gambol by land and by sea.

From May to September you will find plenty of activities and excursions for children, arranged by the Danish activity organizer Træfpunkt. And in the spring the annual jazz festival is launched and musicians strike up a dance.

And with its immensely wide, chalk-white beaches Rømø is naturally a true paradise for bathers of all ages.
