Melstedgård

At the living agricultural museum with animals, machines and activities you can follow the course of life on a farm in the period 1850-1950. See what went on in the house, in the stable and on the field from morning to evening, from spring to autumn.The farmhouse with furniture originates from the 1860'ies, and here you will find a kitchen, where you can see the fire being lit in the stove and follow the process of preserving, salting, baking, the making of butter and the brewing of beer. In the servants' hall you can see how the people used to spin, weave, embroider and make laces. Outside the women dye the wool and prepare the flax. The stables contain horses, pigs, chickens, gooses and cows, which are milked in the traditional way. The fields are being ploughed, harrowed and threshed by the aid of a horse. Something is always going on here. Furthermore, you will find a shop and an exhibition about the agriculture of Bornholm on the spot.
