Vangså is a small and cosy fishing hamlet on the west coast of Jutland - just south of the surfer's paradise Klitmøller.
 With no more than 6 km to the surf area Klitmøller and 10 km to the holiday resort Vorupør, the lovely holiday home area Vangså is located very attractively by the North Sea. Here you will find a good bathing beach, peace, quiet, fresh sea air and lovely nature. The beach and the plantation areas, situated behind the beach, invite walks and leisure activities in the open. The plantations have a rich bird life and contain more grave mounds from the bronze age.
Vangså is an ideal holiday destination for bird and nature lovers as well as culturally interested persons. Here you are close to nature and just a short drive away from holiday resorts and sights.
It is possible to buy groceries and dine in the area, and the nearest larger town is Thisted, which is located 22 km towards east.
Beach
The lovely sandy beach by Vangså is app. 100 metres wide. The bathing water is clear and the bottom is both sandy and child-friendly.
The beach is sheltered by dunes, which provide shelter, shade and peace.
Surfers will find good conditions around Vangså - especially towards north.
After a storm it is often possible to find amber in the water's edge here.
Nature
 Here the air is refreshing, the sky is high and the nature is pure.
Behind the shore of Vangså you will find the preserved bird sanctuary Vangså Klithede. Among the sea dunes, the moor dunes, the inland dunes, the heather moor and the large stand of orchids a number of marked walking paths are laid out. From the paths you can admire the distinctive nature and the rich birdlife.
The nearby lakes Vandet Sø and Nors Sø belong among the purest in the country, and it is possible to both swim and fish in the lakes.
Sunken roads, grave mounds, beautiful forest and more walking routes characterize the plantations of Nystrup and Vandet.
Activities
The nature, surrounding Vangså, invites hikes, f.x. along the North Sea, in the plantations behind the shore or around one of the beautiful forest lakes.
The beach invites swimming, sunbathing and various beach activities.
Klitmøller is located 6 km to the north of Vangså, and is known as one of Europe's best windsurfing areas. Here you will find ideal conditions for both experienced and beginners.
Anglers can try their luck along the shore, in the natural lakes of the area - f.x. Nors Sø and Vandet Sø, as well as the Put & Take fishponds of the hinterland.
Golf players can make use of a cosy golf ground in the plantation Nystrup Plantage (6 km) or one of Denmark's most challenging golf courses, which belongs to Nordvestjysk Golfklub in Thisted (22 km).
Worth a visit
The area is rich in grave mounds from the bronze age, which are to be found especially in the plantation Vandet Plantage and the dune plantation Nystrup Klitplantage.
Vorupør Museum has been established in the former boat-building yard, where the ships for the local fishermen were build. The museum illustrates the historic background of Vorupør and the special lifestyle of the coastal population (10 km). In the aquarium Nordsøakvariet in Vorupør you can experience fish and marine animal, caught by the fishermen of Vorupør.
Visit Museumscenter Hanstholm with the museum bunker - Northern Europe's largest fortress with a bunker. At the museum area you can experience exhibitions, canons, uniforms, weapons etc. (18 km).
Excursion spots
Thisted offers shops, restaurants, galleries, potteries, the brew-house Thisted Bryghus and Thisted Museum, which has been established in an old villa. The museum contains a memorial room for the writer J. P. Jacobsen and exhibitions, which illustrate the peasant culture of Thy (22 km).
The coastal centre Kystcentret in Thyborøn is an interesting experience centre for the whole family. Learn more about the shore, which surrounds Denmark. In the aquarium JyllandsAkvariet in Thyborøn you can hold a crab in your hand, pat a shark on the head and stroke a flatfish - an exciting and different experience for both children and adults (44 km).
Jesperhus Blomsterpark is Scandinavia's larges flower park with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land and an aquapark with various activities (49 km).
