Saltum Strand is an attractive holiday resort by the lovely North Sea beach.
 Saltum Strand is a lovely and cosy forest/plantation area in the bay Jammerbugten. The area is popular because of the nature, the magnificent sandy beach, the good holiday homes and the ideal location in relation to holiday towns, amusements, fishponds and golf courses. Furthermore, the tranquil and very family-friendly area offers a number of leisure activities for the whole family.
In the town of Saltum, which is located a few kilometres behind the shore, you will find shops and a couple of restaurants.
Beach
The beach Saltum Strand is a broad and lovely sandy beach, which is an extension of the beach of Blokhus. The clean and child-friendly beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag. Here you can swim, sunbathe, walk, windsurf, play beach volley, build sandcastle etc.
High dunes with lyme grass bound the beach to the east. Here it is always possible to find a sheltered hollow.
Motoring is allowed on the beach.
Nature
 Behind the dunes the area is characterized by large, hilly plantation areas with dunes, forest and nature paths. The landscape of Saltum is serene, very scenic and recreational.
Between Saltum and Grønhøj you can visit the reserve Lille Norge. The beautiful and peaceful forest and nature areas stretch all the way down to the North Sea and invites walks. From the viewpoint Guldagerhøj in Lille Norge you can enjoy the view of the whole bay Jammerbugten.
Activities
The plantation area behind the dunes of the beach contains more marked path systems, which are suited for walks and rides. It is possible to rent riding horses in the area.
A number of golf courses are available in the area. You can f.x. play on the 18-hole, scenically situated course of Blokhus Klit Golf Center (10 km) or on the 18-hole course of Løkken Golfklub, which is located between fields and plantations (17 km).
Anglers will equally find good opportunities here, as it is possible to fish directly from the shore as well as in the Put & Take fishponds of the area, like f.x. Saltum Fiskepark, Blokhus Fiskepark and Løkken Fiskepark.
In Blokhus you can make use of a subtropical aquapark with a 40-metres long water slide, children's pool, jacuzzi, sauna and wellness centre among other things (5 km by the beach).
Action House in Løkken offers bowling, laser game, paintball, go-cart, pinball arcade, ballroom, electrical cars, internet café, restaurant and discotheque (16 km).
Worth a visit
 Galleri Saltum in the town of Saltum has been established in a former dairy and exhibits sculptures, paintings and pots among other things.
In the amusement park Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark you can try out more than 50 interesting entertainments for the whole family, including Denmark's largest aquapark and Denmark's longest switchback Falken (2 km).
The garden in Hune 'Haven i Hune' is a 6,500 square metres large, beautiful, colourful and inspiring garden with sale of plants, paintings etc. as well as a café (13 km).
The cosy and popular holiday resort Blokhus offers shops, restaurants, pubs, ice cream stalls, a bowling centre, entertainment and atmosphere (14 km).
In the seaside resort Løkken you will find a drops factory, a number of shops, restaurants, pubs, fishing vessels on the beach and entertainment during the summer (16 km).
Excursion spots
Behind Løkken you can visit Børglum Kloster - a beautiful, old monastery from the 1180'ies with atmosphere, exhibitions, a church and parklike surroundings (22 km).
Near Nr. Rubjerg you can experience Rubjerg Knude - a 90-m high hill island, created by inland ice during the last ice age. The lighthouse of the hill island 'Rubjerg Knude Fyr' is partly buried in sand. It was build in 1900 and taken out of service in 1968 because of the sand drift. Enjoy the magnificent view of the sea and the surroundings from here (25 km).
The aquarium Nordsømuseet in Hirtshals contains Europe's largest saltwater aquarium: Ocenariet, which holds 4.5 million litres of water. Here you can experience about 60 different fish species from the North Sea and even touch some of them (46 km).
