Lønstrup is an idyllic fishing hamlet and an evocative holiday resort with shops, handicraft products and cafés.
 Lønstrup is a cosy, active and vivid seaside town with narrow streets, galleries, shops, pubs, ice cream stalls and many restaurants. Most of the restaurants offer outdoor service, and some even have a view of the sea. And naturally, fish dishes always appear on the menu. Many craftsmen are attracted to this area and many have taken up residence here. You can visit them in their galleries, workshops, glass factories and museums.
In the outskirts of Lønstrup you can observe as the fishing vessels are drawn up on the beach each day after use.
The charming town life, the unique handicrafts, the many sights and the scenic nature make Lønstrup an attractive holiday destination at all times of the year.
Beach
A lovely sandy beach is available by Lønstrup, and the beach has Blue Flag. On the northern part of the beach, the waves are controlled by breakwaters, which create calm lagoons with shallow and child-friendly water. Behind the breakwaters the sea offers good opportunities for windsurfing.
The high cliff Lønstrup Klint, which rises steeply behind the beach, shelters the beach.
The unique sunsets can be enjoyed from the beach or the dunes.
Nature
 Lønstrup is a hilly and green town by the blue North Sea. A ravine with a small brook twists through the town.
Beach, scenic and hilly dune plantations, forest areas as well as meadows and fields with crops or grazing farm animals characterize the landscape, surrounding Lønstrup.
Along the shore, towards south, you can experience the high, 15 km long cliff Lønstrup Klint and observe how the sand drift has affected the landscape throughout the years. Among other places, you can visit Rubjerg Knude and see how the large, desert-like sand dune in from of the lighthouse exceeds the height of the lighthouse.
Activities
The area offers good opportunities for anglers, who can fish directly from the shore, from a boat, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area as well as in the streams Liver Å and Uggerby Å.
A number of good bridle paths are available in the area, and horses can be hired here. You can paraglide from the 15 km long cliff Lønstrup Klint - one of the country's best paragliding areas.
Action House in Løkken offers bowling alleys, lasergame, paintball, go-carts, pinball arcade, ball room and electrical cars etc. (16 km).
In Vennebjerg you will find the largest Pay & Play golf course in the province with 12 holes, as well as a fishpond and a small wood (4 km). Furthermore, golf players can try out the courses with Hjørring Golfklub (13 km), Løkken Golfklub (16 km) and Hirtshals Golfklub (25 km).
Worth a visit
 Lønstrup is famous for its many artists, painters, sculptors, ceramists and glassblowers, and you can visit them in their workshops and experience the creation of handicraft.
A sand drift museum has been established near the lighthouse Rubjerg Knude Fyr from 1900, and from the lighthouse, which is going to sand up within few years, you can enjoy the scenic view of the sea and the landscape (3 km).
In Family Farm Fun Park in Vittrup you can stroke and feed the domestic animals, ride on ponies, drive on a play tractor, try out the water cycles at the large lake or make a picnic in the scenic surroundings (12 km).
Visit the charming town Hjørring, which offers a pedestrian street with specialist shops, interesting museums, a manor house and more mediaeval buildings among other things (13 km).
Behind Løkken you can visit the beautiful old monastery Børglum Kloster from the 1180'ies with atmosphere, exhibitions, church and parklike surroundings (17 km).
Excursion spots
The museum Nordsømuseet in Hirtshals is the holder of Europe's largest salt-water aquarium Ocenariet with 4.5 million litres of water. At Nordsømuseet you can experience app. 60 species of fish from the North Sea and even touch some of them (25 km). In Hirtshals you can also visit Bunkermuseet Hirtshals 10. Batteri - a complete bunker installation with museum from World War II.
In the amusement park Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark you can try out more than 50 interesting entertainments for the whole family, including Denmark's largest aquapark and Denmark's longest switchback 'Falken'. When the entry has been paid for, you can try out all amusements in Fårup Sommerland (28 km).
In Tuen, close to Tversted, you can visit an interesting eagle sanctuary, get close to some of the world¿s largest eagle species and watch as they are being fed in the air (47 km).
