Klitmøller is the windsufers' Paradise and a very popular holiday home area.
 Klitmøller is a small and cosy fishing hamlet, located in a bay and surrounded by nature of scenic beauty with dune plantations and reserves. About 1 km from the coast a large sand spit shelters the bay. The small and colourful fishing boats still sail out from the old landing places on the beach of Klitmøller every day. It is often possible to buy fresh fish on the beach. The fishing vessels can be found in the evocative harbour. Klitmøller offers shopping opportunities and restaurants - among others the inn Klitmøller Kro from the end of the 17th century, and in the towns Hanstholm (12 km) and Thisted (15 km) you will find a larger selection. This holiday destination is famous among windsurfers all over Europe, and in addition to surfers, it attracts nature lovers, anglers and others, who prefer a quiet and cosy holiday in scenic surroundings.
Beach
The lovely, white and sandy beach of Klitmøller is app. 50 metres wide and several kilometres long. Behind the beach the high white dunes rise. The hollows of the dunes provide peace, shelter or shade on a sunny day. The water is clear and the bottom is sandy. However, the water gets deep rather quickly, and a strong current can occur. The beach of Klitmøller is ideal for a swim, sunbathing as well as windsurfing. Motoring is not allowed on the beach.
It is sometimes possible to find amber on the beach after a storm.
Nature
 The nature in and around Klitmøller is exceptionally beautiful and varying. Among other things you will find a lovely beach, a beautiful dune plantation and a reserve here.
Hansted-Reservatet is Denmark's largest game preserve. It covers nearly 4,000 hectares and stretches all the way from Klitmøller to Hanstholm. The area consists of dune and moor areas with lakes and a rich animal life. Because of the breeding season the reserve cannot be visited in the early summer.
The dune plantation Nystrup Klitplantage near Klitmøller offers sunken roads, grave mounds, beautiful forest and more hiking routes.
The nearby lakes Vandet Sø and Nors Sø rank among the purest lakes of the country, and it is possible to both swim and fish in the lakes.
Activities
The scenic surroundings invite walks, bicycle trips and horseback rides in the terrain. On the beach you can swim, sunbathe and engage yourselves in various beach activities.
If you feel like trying to windsurf, you can benefit from the good winds and currents, which have made Klitmøller an internationally famous windsurfer area.
Anglers will have good opportunities for a catch here, as it is possible to fish directly from the beach, in the lakes Nors Sø and Vandet Sø as well as in the Put & Take fishponds of the area.
Tennis courts are available in Klitmøller.
Golfers can test the cosy golf ground in Nystrup Plantage (4 km), or one of Denmark¿s most challenging courses, which belongs to Nordvestjysk Golfklub in Thisted (16 km).
Worth a visit
 The area is rich in grave mounds from the bronze age, which can be observed mainly in the plantation Vandet Plantage and the dune plantation Nystrup Klitplantage.
Visit Museumscenter Hanstholm - Northern Europe's largest fortress with a bunker. On the museum ground you can experience exhibitions, canons, uniforms, weapons etc. (12 km).
In the aquarium Nordsøakvariet in Vorupør you can experience fish and marine animal, caught by the fishermen of Vorupør (13 km).
Vorupør Museum has been established in the former boat-building yard, where the ships for the local fishermen were build. The museum illustrates the historic background of Vorupør and the special lifestyle of the coastal population.
Excursion spots
Bulbjerg is a 47-metres high limestone cliff in the bay Jammerbugten, which is inhabited by the sea bird, the sandpiper. Uttermost on Denmark's only bird cliff you will find a bunker from World War II with a small exhibition (47 km).
The coastal centre Kystcentret in Thyborøn is an interesting experience centre for the whole family. Learn more about the shore, which surrounds Denmark. In the aquarium JyllandsAkvariet in Thyborøn you can hold a crab in your hand, pat a shark on the head and stroke a flatfish - an exciting and different experience for both children and adults (48 km).
Jesperhus Blomsterpark is Scandinavia's larges flower park with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land and an aquapark with various activities (50 km).
The open-air museum Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (88 km).
