The former fishing hamlet is now a charming, cosy and popular holiday resort.

The broad, white sandy beach, the dunes, the North Sea, the lovely atmosphere and the many nice holiday homes attract many holiday guests each year. Most of the shops, restaurants, cafés and ice cream stalls in Blokhus are gathered round the square. Concerts and other activities are launched on the square during the summer. Here you will find good shopping opportunities and many good restaurants - often with outdoor service. Furthermore, you can experience a cosy nightlife here in the peak season.
The area Hune/Kryle Klit belongs to Blokhus, but is situates app. 2 km behind the beach in very scenic surroundings.
In addition to the beach, the Blokhus area offers an active town life, a lovely nature, good leisure activities and interesting sights for the whole family. Blokhus is a very much-coveted holiday area at all times of the year.

Beach

Blokhus has one of Denmark's most lovely and widest sandy beaches with Blue Flag. The dunes behind the beach provide sheltered hollows for sun bathing.
During the summer lifeguards keep an eye on the bathers from their towers.
You are allowed to drive in car on the beach. To the left of the way down to the beach, you will see the distinctive small, white beach huts.
Because of the wind and the waves, the conditions for windsurfers are ideal here.
It is often possible to buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen on the beach.
Experience the exceptional sunset over the North Sea from the beach or the dunes.
At all seasons the beach is fascinating and invites walks in all kinds of weather. After a storm it is sometimes possible to find amber on the beach.

Nature

Behind the town and the beach, the scenic landscape is characterized by tranquil forest, dune and moor landscapes, which offer good opportunities for walks, rides and bicycle rides.
The dune plantation Blokhus Klitplantage, just north of the town, offers a lovely and peaceful nature with a rich and interesting animal life. A part of the forest has been laid out as a dog forest, and from more spots in the area, you can enjoy the view of the landscape. In the sand drift dunes Hune Klit and Kryle Klit you will equally find a scenic and varying landscape.
The preserved nature area Lille Norge consists of an undulating landscape with forest, sea and dune plantation. From the viewpoint Guldagerhøj in this area you can enjoy the view of the whole bay Jammerbugten.

Activities

The lovely beach invites bathing and beach activities like fx windsurfing. The hinterland is suitable for especially walks and rides.
Should the bathing weather let you down, you can visit the subtropical aquapark in Blokhus, where you will find a 40 m long water slide, children's pool, jacuzzi, sauna and wellness centre.
The area, surrounding Blokhus, is rich in golf courses, and you can test the 18-hole and scenically situated course by Blokhus Klit Golf Center (3 km).
Anglers will also find good opportunities here, as it is possible to fish directly from the shore, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area or in the lake Nols Sø by Saltum.
You can rent riding horses more places in the area.
Throughout the summer midsummer celebration, the march Vesterhavsmarch, entertainment on the square as well as other event are arranged here, and you can attend them or participate in them.

Worth a visit

In and around Blokhus you can experience a number of small museums, galleries and workshops, where the craftsmen can be observed as they work. With the candle factory Blokhus Lys in Hune you can make your own candles in cosy surroundings (2 km).
The garden in Hune 'Haven i Hune' is a 6,500 square metres large beautiful, colourful and inspiring garden with fx sale of plants and paintings and the like as well as a café (2 km).
In the amusement park Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark you can try out more than 50 interesting entertainments for the whole family, including Denmark's largest aquapark and Denmark's longest switchback 'Falken'. When the entry has been paid for, you can try out all amusements in Fårup Sommerland (5 km).

Excursion spots

Behind the cosy tourist and bathing resort Løkken (22 km) you can visit the beautiful old monastery Børglum Kloster from the 1180'ies with atmosphere, exhibitions, church and parklike surroundings (26 km).
A sand drift museum has been established close to the lighthouse Rubjerg Knude Fyr, and from the lighthouse, which is going to sand up within a few years, you can enjoy the scenic view of the sea and the landscape (31 km).
Visit the idyllic and evocative fishing hamlet Lønstrup, which is famous for its many galleries and craftsmen among other things (36 km).
The museum Nordsømuseet in Hirtshals is the holder of Europe's largest salt-water aquarium Ocenariet with 4.5 million litres of water. At Nordsømuseet you can experience app. 60 species of fish from the North Sea and even touch some of them (52 km).
