The cosy town Dokkedal is situated by the gentle east coast of Jutland, about 10 km south of the Liim Fiord.

From the small fishing town Egense, 9 km from Dokkedal, you can go with the ferry every 10 minutes to the holiday town Hals, where you will find shops, restaurants, entertainment and leisure activities for the whole family.
Dokkedal is situated about 11 km north of the vivid and popular holiday and bathing town Øster Hurup with the lovely beaches, various leisure activities, good shopping possibilities and many restaurants.
And only about 30 km from Dokkedal, Aalborg, the 'capital' of northern Jutland, offers good shopping, sightseeing and entertainment.

Beach
By 'Mulbjerge' and the valley 'Stejlgabet' a pier has been established, from which it is possible to swim. Here you will also find a lovely bathing beach with calm water. The beach is traffic-free and has the Blue Flag.
The beach of Øster Hurup (11 km towards south) is a long and white bathing beach with low dunes and Blue Flag. The beach is very suitable for children as the waves are small and the water is shallow. The beach is a popular place for bathing, sunbathing, windsurfing and other beach activities.

Nature
'Mulbjerge' is a preserved and rather distinctive moraine hillock of 144 hectares near Dokkedal. From here you have a fantastic view of the sea and the area.
'Stejlgabet' is the name of the valley, which cuts through 'Mulbjerge' from Dokkedal and all the way out to the coast. Below the hillside cultivated fields, salt meadows and small marshes characterize the landscape. Here the animals pasture during the summer, and the rich bird life here is composed of both duck and wading birds.
'Lille Vildmose' is the largest marsh area in Denmark and contains lakes, farm areas and the forests 'Høstemark Skov' and 'Toft Skov'.
Further inland you can experience the second largest forest area in Denmark. 'Rold Skov' has an undulating terrain, many forest lakes, springs, varying forest, a rich animal life and a number of walking paths. The forest is definitely worth a visit.

Activities
The area around Dokkedal offers good possibilities for the anglers. The Kattegat and the Liim Fiord are both obvious fishing spots, but you will also find more streams and Put & Take fishponds in the area, as f.x. 'Øster Hurup Fiskepark' and 'Terndrup Mølledam'.
Golf players can try out the courses by Hals Golfklub, which is a seaside course, or by Rold Skov Golfklub, which is idyllically situated in the forest.
The holiday town Øster Hurup offers a subtropical water world with facilities for the whole family, which is open all year round, as well as minigolf, tennis courts and bicycle and horse rental.
At the go-cart track in Mou exciting competitions for the whole family are arranged. Experience speed and excitement on the 600 metres long track.
Lovely nature experiences await you along the marked bicycle routes, which lead you through the scenic landscapes of eastern Himmerland. You will also find more nature paths and walking routes in the area, i.a. in 'Mulbjergene'.

Worth a visit
Along the east coast you will find a number of galleries and workshops, where different kinds of art is manufactured. Many places you can follow the work of the artists.
From Egense you can you can go on a 5 minutes ferry trip over the Liim Fiord to the holiday town Hals, which is a cosy holiday town with a vivid and harbour atmosphere. On the square in Hals the jaws and the vertebras of a blue whale are displayed.
The fortress 'Hals Skanse' is situated by the mouth of the Liim Fiord. The powder magazine and the arsenal are preserved and a museum has been established in the latter. The museum of Hals shows an exhibition of local history about the sea, inlet, town, fortress, war and occupation.

Excursion spots
Aalborg is the 'capital' of northern Jutland. Here you will find art, culture, Denmark's oldest convent, pedestrian streets, the charming old town centre, the amusement street 'Jomfru Ane Gade' and various restaurants (30 km).
The amusement park 'Tivoliland Aalborg' offers thrill, fun and good experiences for the whole family.
The zoo in Aalborg is a child-freindly animal kingdom in beautiful surroundings.
Experience Mariager 'the town of the roses', see the beautiful old half-timbered houses and the cobbled streets, and enjoy the idyllic surrounding nature landscape. Here you will also find the salt centre 'Danmarks Saltcenter', where you can experience the magic of the salt. The salt centre is only tourist attraction in Scandinavia, where the raw material salt is the main subject (40 km).
The large forest 'Rold Skov' offers an undulating terrain, forest lakes, springs, varying forest, a rich animal life and many walking routes.
