If your are interested in birds, you ought to visit the bird sanctuary Bøtø Nor on the southern part of Falster. The 110 hectares wetlands, which is characterized by shallow lakes, grass areas, rush and brushwood, functions as an important resting place for the birds - especially in the autumn. From the gazebos on the spot you are able to observe rare birds like f.ex. bearded vulture, black-winged stilt, marsh sandpiper and white-backed sandpiper. You can combine your visit to the bird sanctuary with a walk or bicycle trip through the plantation Bøtø Plantage, which is adjacent to Bøtø Nor. The lovely plantation is covered with coniferous trees. An app. 8 km long path leads you directly to Gedser from here.
