Gram Lergrav
In the special stone-free clay in the clay pit Gram Lergrav, skeleton parts of on less than 18 whales have been discovered. Furthermore, a number of mussels and snails have been found in the black clay. In the exhibition of Museum Sønderjylland, Naturhistorie og Palæontologisk, you can experience the fossils, which have been found in the clay pit. Bring along wellingtons, practical clothes and a flat screwdriver for the digging, and go searching for the 10 million years old fossils.The nature, surrounding the clay pit, is also very inviting if you need a break from the digging. Take a walk on the path around the clay pit and experience the present nature, while you find the posts on the path of evolution, which tells about life in former times. One step corresponds to app. 1 million years. The route is 1,100 m long and tells the story about the last billion years of evolution on earth.
