Formerly a stronghold and later a Renaissance castle was located under and to the west of Tønder Museum. The remains of the buildings can be seen here today. You enter the culture-historical museum through the gate - the oldest building of the museum. Inside you can admire the interesting collection, which primarily consists of: silver from Western Slesvig, Dutch tiles, furniture and laces from Tønder. Explore the interesting and semi-detached builgings of the museum and visit the water tower, where the chairs of the furniture designer Hans J. Wegner are exhibited. From here you can also enjoy the magnificent view of the town Tønder and the marshland. Some of the most skilled lace-makers of the area meet in at Tønder Museum and make lace.
