The painter Jens Søndergaard (1895-1957) was so impressed with the landscape with the steep cliff and the wide views of the sea that he bought a small wooden house in 1930 - right by the cliff in Bovbjerg. In this holiday cottage with adjoining studio he spend several months each year painting pictures, and the motives were people by the sea. He preferred to paint the roughness of the sea - green with white foam or black with a fatally lopsided horizon. In 1952 he decided that Bovbjerg needed a museum, and therefore the bequeathed the parish his house and a large collection of paintings. Today the museum is a part of Lemvig Museum and definitely worth a visit!
