Before the year 1900 Fanø had the largest fleet of sailing ships outside Copenhagen, and at that time it caused that the families were separated. The man was on the sea and the woman stayed at home in the house with the kids. The shipping collection specifies these relations by means of ships' models, posters and photos. The garment collection of the museum gives you an idea of how the women dressed on ordinary days and on festive occasions more than 100 years ago.
