In the years up to 1634 the castle was enlarged and changed with might and main. Today Rosenborg stands with its high towers and its red sandstone ornamented masonry as a dignified representative of King Christian the Fourth's many buildings. A number of original rooms are preserved at the castle, the King's private living room among others. The most magnificent room is the baronial hall which contains tapestries of King Christians the Fifth, showing the victories of the Scanian war (1976-1979). The throne of the Kings can also be seen here. Behind the one-meter thick walls of the treasury, the royal crowns and the invaluable crown jewels are located.
