Museumscenter Aars
'Museumscenter Aars' has been established in an exhibition house, which is a work of art in itself. The building mainly consists of tile and has a ground-plan with the shape of Jove's thunderbolts. The museum is an archaeological and culture historical museum, which also exhibits contemporary art. The permanent exhibitions deal with culture history from the Ice Age and up till today. Here you can experience amber and flint finds from the area, the skull of Scandinavia's oldest stone age man and finds from the bronze and iron age, like f.x. the fortified village 'Borremose', which was hidden in the marsh for thousands of years. Furthermore, you can see unique finds like a 2,400 years old wizard bag, a uniquely preserved Celtic leather shield and 'Gundestrupkarret' - a sacrificial vessel, made out of silver, with a circumference of more than 2 metres.Museumscenter Aars
