Museet på Gl. Rye Mølle

Besides enjoying the amazing view of the preserved and hilly moor landscape as well as Denmark's second largest lake Mossø you can visit different exhibitions by the Dutch mill Gl. Rye Mølle, which has a gallery. See f.ex. the interesting exhibition, covering the history of Ry and the environs, as well as the clog museum. The clog maker equally had a talent for carving small souvenirs, which were popular among the tourists, who came her by boat on their way towards the 'mountain' Himmelbjerget. The most famous Himmelbjerg-souvenir is the walking stick, which became the traditional souvenir from Himmelbjerget.
In October 1944 the area Galgebakken in Gl. Rye was excavated, and a dreary discovery was made. The find: A skeleton of a woman, can be observed at the museum today. It is presumed that the woman was buried alive in a sack.
