Lejre Museum

Lejre MuseumThe exhibitions of Lejre Museum illustrate essential factors of the area Gl. Lejre - among other things the impressive heathen chief seat of the iron age in Lejre and the legends regarding Denmark's first kings in Lejre. Furthermore, the exhibitions shed light on the story of the municipality Lejre from the antiquity until today. Works of modern artists are a part of the museum block, which was established in 2005 in an old four-sided farm.
In addition the museum embrace the annex Gl. Kongsgård - the farmhouse of a 300-years old copyhold - with original peasant furniture and a farm garden.
Both farms are situated in the idyllic village Gl. Lejre, 8 km west of Roskilde. The museum is an ideal starting point for an excursion in the lovely and historic landscape in and around the village.
The entry to the museum is free!
