The large halls of the museum contains exhibitions, representing the deep-sea fishery of Western Jutland - mainly from the twentieth century - as well as the shipping in the Jutland Wadden Sea from the viking age and up till today. Furthermore, varying temporary exhibitions are arranged on the spot. In the outdoor exhibition 'Frilandsudstillingen' you can see what the fishing villages, the small fishing ports and the shipbuilding yard looked like around the years of World War 2. The exhibition is created with original buildings, which have been moved from the harbour of Esbjerg to the museum, as well as an amount of vessel and reconstructions of houses, which were formerly situated on the harbour or along the shore. The sealarium and the saltwater aquarium display a wide selection of the animal life in the Danish waters.
