Faaborg Arrest

Faaborg Arrest functioned as the county gaol of Faaborg from the year 1926, and today it contains Denmark's first country gaul museum. The lay-out of the cells and the guards' room illustrate the everyday life in a prison from the late Middle Ages, when the cells were situated under the former town council hall, and up till today, when the cells are equipped with TV and coffee machine. Some of the cells contain various special exhibitions, where you can learn more about subjects like f.x. escape, drugs, tattoos, violence and suicide. Both the former detention and the security cell are preserved with the original inventory.
