Frederikshavn Kunstmuseum

The art museum 'Frederikshavn Kunstmuseum' is Scandinavia's only museum for libris art. Libris means 'bookplates' and have existed as long as the printed book - from around the year 1500. The museum deals with paper art, and varying exhibitions of both Danish and foreign contemporary artists are arranged here. The museum also contains a collection of local art with many works of Karl Bovin, one of Denmark's greatest landscape painters. 'Frederikshavn Kunstmuseum' is also the domicile of the Danish libris foundation, which contains on of the world's largest libris collections. Here you will find around 250,000 geographical creations as well as a special library, which covers handbooks, periodicals and catalogues about libris.
