Det Nationalhistoriske Museum

Since the middle of the 16th century Danish kings have used the castle Frederiksborg Slot as hunting seat and royal residence. After the fire in 1859 the castle was reconstructed and converted into a museum. The museum exhibits Denmark's largest collection of portraits. A large number of the portraits are painted, but busts, reliefs and photographs are also a part of the collection. Furthermore, the exhibition contains historic paintings, which illustrates selected events from the Danish history.
