Forsorgsmuseet

The welfare museum Forsorgsmuseet is located in the former poorhouse and work institution 'Fattig- og Arbejderanstalt' from 1872. The main theme of this sociohistorical museum is the history of the Danish welfare. In the buildings you can see the old arrangements of the place: the living room of the men, the dining hall, the bathrooms, a workshop and correction cells. Furthermore, the barbed wire of the buildings can still be seen - just like when the homeless lived here. The southern wing contains the exhibition 'Du skal ikke tænke på din far og mor' (Don't think about your father and mother) - a moving history about a children's home in the 20th century. In the shop of the museum you are able to buy historical toys, posters, viking ornaments and books.
