Det Sorte Museum

Geologically speaking the southern part of Falster is a very interesting area, or to be more precise, a moraine formation, created during the ice age. In 'Det Sorte Museum' (the black museum) you will find a collection of finds from the shores of Falster. The walls, ceilings and floors are kept completely in black. Merely the exhibition cases and the unique wall paintings, which illustrate the sea environments of former periods, are illuminated. Here you can admire fossils, minerals and amber - from which several contain old embedded insects. Furthermore, the museum houses a special collection with quartz and garnets, and here you can experience the world's largest cut star almandin among other things.
