Oluf Høst Museet

|
Oluf Høst Museet opened in June 1998 in Bornholm, and hereby the great painter of the island was given his own museum, where his art exclusively can be seen and experienced. The museum was established in the home of Oluf Høst, which he decorated in 1929 and lived in until his death in 1966. Already in the 1930s Høst became noted within the Danish art world and received more honours. Among others he was awarded the Eckersberg Medalje in 1933, which is the highest honour a Danish painter can achieve. Høst was a member of Den Frie Udstilling from 1926, but sometimes he did not hold an exhibition for years because he could not disengage himself from his pictures. He often brought his brushes and paints along to the exhibition to align the pictures. This procedure was also practised towards the private collectors. Høst often showed up at the buyers' homes to chance or to regain a picture to 'completion'.
