Fur is the most scenic island in of the Liim Fiord with moler cliffs in the north and salt meadows in the south.
 The tranquil and cosy island Fur is situated a 5 minutes sail from the town Branden on the northern part of Salling. The island is rich in diversified and unique landscapes. The island is one of the few places in the world with deposits of the special kind of clay, moler. The island is and ideal holiday destination for nature lovers. The marina 'Furs Lystbådehavn' is situated on the south side of the island, right by the ferry berth. Besides the magnificent nature, the island also offers more restaurants and good shopping possibilities.
Beach
Fur has more good bathing beaches, which are all suitable for children. The water is clear, clean and shallow by the waters edge. The bottom is sandy with stones and seaweed. The main part of the beaches is sandy beaches with stones and seashells.
During the summer period bathing jetties are available east of Stenøre and by Færker Odde.
Nature
 The 22 square kilometre large island is characterized by a level country with salt meadows, lakes and fields in the southern part, and the northern part is dominated by an east-westbound ridge, from which you can enjoy the magnificent view of the island and the Liim Fiord. On the northern part of the island you will also find hilly landscapes with good viewpoints and scattered forests.
Activities
Fossil chase is a popular activity on the island, and the moler enables you to find fossils, which are more than 55 million years old.
Fur is an ideal destination for both windsurfers and anglers. It is possible to fish both in a fishpond and along the shores of the island.
The island offers a well-developed network of paths. Interesting nature experiences await you along the 12 km of walking paths, which have its source by Emmelstenhus on the northern part of the island.
Some of the farms of the island are open to visitors, and here you can experience how life is proceeding on a farm.
Worth a visit
 At the interesting natural history museum 'Fur Museum' you can see a collection of the archaeological finds of the island as well as fossils of i.a. giant turtles.
'Gammel Havn' is a former fishing hamlet, which function as an information centre and a museum.
The many grave mounds and settlement bear witness of the activities of prehistoric Fur. The grave mounds 'Stendalhøje', 'Manhøje' and 'Smedjehøjene' are all placed at the highest points of the island, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Liim Fiord and the area.
Excursion spots
Visit the scenically situated town Skive, which is rich in museums and galleries. Here you will also find a charming marina, a cosy pedestrian street with good shopping possibilities as well as more restaurants (30 km).
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' on the Liim Fiord island Mors is the largest flower park in Scandinavia with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with i.a. beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land as well as water world with various activities (30 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (48 km).
