Doverodde is a former quay by the Liim Fiord in the historical area of southern Thy.
 The atmosphere of the past still characterizes Doverodde, which is idyllically situated between sea and inlet. The town has a cosy marina and a famous museum, and it its is surrounded by inlet, fields, nature landscapes and plantations. Here the opportunities for bathing, fishing, surfing, walking and riding on bicycle or horseback in the magnificent nature are very good.
The town Hurup, which is situated 6 km from Doverodde, is a lovely commercial town with restaurants and a pedestrian street.
Beach
The beach of Doverodde is a fine Liim Fiord bathing beach, which is situated north of the marina.
If you wish to experience the wide and white sandy beaches of the North Sea, the beach of Agger Tange is situated only 20 km from Doverodde. The beach is about 100 metres wide and consists of both sand and stones. The water is clear and the bottom is sandy with rocks. The beach has the Blue Flag. You will find good bathing and sunbathing opportunities as the many groynes shelter the beach. However, the water is deep with occasional waves and currents.
Nature
 The area, surrounding Doverodder, offers a very versatile nature with inlet, fields, meadows, forest of reeds, brooks and swamps. Here you will also find a rich bird and animal life with rare birds, amphibians and reptiles.
Doverkil, the innermost part of the inlet, is preserved and surrounded by salt meadows and steep slopes.
The scenic plantation 'Dover Plantage' is a fertile area of 200 hectares. Along the paths in the forest you can see a small forest lake and a spring.
The moor 'Ydby Hede' is a beautiful nature area with a number of walking and bicycle paths, which is situated a few km west of Doverodde.
The dune plantation 'Lodbjerg Klitplantage' is a 1,050 hectares area with forest, lakes as well as moor and dune areas. 5 different marked walking routes are available in this area.
The plantation 'Rønhede Plantage' offers a place for a bonfire, a few small lakes and more walking routes (15 km towards north).
Activities
Anglers will find good opportunities in the inlet, in the North Sea as well as in the lakes, streams and Put & Take fishponds of the area. It is very popular to fish from the groynes by Agger and in the 661 hectares large fresh water lake 'Flade Sø'.
In Snedsted and Vestervig it is possible to rent riding horses.
Golf players can try out the good courses in f.x. Struer (36 km) and Lemvig (48 km).
In Hurup you can play tennis and make use of a swimming baths.
Worth a visit
 The Liim Fiord centre 'Limfjordscentret' in Doverodde is a 150-years old and very well-preserved merchant's house. Here you can have an authentic impression of the role of the merchant's house in those days. On the second floor of the building alternating exhibitions are displayed. By 'Limfjordscentret' you will find a 37 metres high former grain silo, and from here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the landscape.
'Heltborg Museum' has been established in an old school and contains i.a. exhibitions with paintings and handicraft with subject from the district (5 km).
The ancient cemetery on the moor 'Ydby Hede' is Denmark's largest collection of barrows (5 km).
The area Thy is rich in interesting museums and exhibitions by local craftsmen.
Excursion spots
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' on the Liim Fiord island Mors is the largest flower park in Scandinavia with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with i.a. beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land as well as water world with various activities (28 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (58 km).
