Næsholm Borgruin

In the dried-up pond Nygård Sø the ruin Næsholm Denmark's most explored castle ground from mediaeval times is located. The history of Næsholm is uncharted, but the excavations from the year 1935-1957 have revealed that Næsholm was most likely build in the year 1240. It was a royal bailiff castle, which was destroyed in connection with the wars against the Holsteiners in 1340. The well-preserved remains give you the idea that Næsholm used to be a smaller mediaeval castle ground.
