On account of the interesting building materials and the relatively short working process, sand sculptures have become very popular in different relations.
Sand sculpture most likely arose in the old Egypt. To start with the sand sculptors of our days created sculptures along the eastern coast of America and received coins from the passers-by, who admired their work. Today, sand sculpture is an art form, and 15 years ago the first sand sculpture festival took place in Europe. Again this year you can visit the sand sculpture festival in Søndervig, where tons of sand is being worked up into impressive works of art within a few days.
Activities for children are arranged here as well. The youngest ones can build their won sculptures out of sand and participate in different competitions.
