The gallery Kunststuen exhibits collages, made out of dried and pressed seaweed, compounded with hand-made paper, feathers and leaves. The collages cover a wide field - from romances to more naturalistic landscapes.
Furthermore, the gallery presents paintings, made according to the old technique 'encaustic painting' - the art of painting with hot wax. The technique was used in the antiquity for the creation of f.x. icons. Today the tools are modern, and a special kind of iron is used to melt the beeswax colours before they are ironed on to the paper. The encaustic method provides the painting with quite unique effect, which cannot be obtained with other materials. The paintings do not only illustrate the inspiration from the surrounding nature, but also fantasy and fairytale landscapes are manifested in the paintings. Furthermore, Kunststuen contains amber and stearin, united in unique lamps, and hand-made siver ornaments.
