The idyllic old skipper town Troense is situated on the north-eastern coast of the island Tåsinge, right at the lovely blue sound 'Thurøsund'.
 The cosy and charming old town Troense offers beautiful streets with preserved half-timbered houses from the 16th. century, a well-attended marina, shopping possibilities and a few restaurants. Troense is centrally situated in relation to sights and excursion spots for the whole family. The castle 'Valdemars Slot' lies less than 1 km from Troense among other things, and Svendborg with the well-preserved town centre, the winding alleys, the squares and charming backyards lies only 7 km from Troense.
Beach
You will find good bathing possibilities by the lovely beach Slotshagen, which is situated by the castle 'Valdemars Slot'. Furthermore, the beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag.
Nature
 Tåsinge has a number of old and beautiful forests, as f.x. 'Stenodde Skov', 'Tvede Skov' and 'Nørreskov'.
From the church tower in the church of Bregninge, which is situated 4 km from Troense and on the highest point of the island, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the area.
The forest 'Nørreskov' by Bregninge contains i.a. a passage grave and 4 grave mounds.
'Monnet' is a conservation area on southern Tåsinge with salt meadows, fords and a rich bird life.
With its height of 7 metres and a diametre of 41 metres, 'Ingershøj' is one of Denmark's largest grave mounds. From here you have the island¿s best view of the south Funen archipelago.
Tåsinge is a lovely island with a scenic and unspoiled nature. Here you can experience islands, islets, high hedges, forests, Funen gardens, idyllic villages and fragrant orchards.
Activities
It is possible to fish off the coast by Troense or from the jetty by the castle 'Valdemars Slot'. Furthermore you will find good fishing spots by Svendborg and by the Thurø dam.
Golf players can test the course by 'Svendborg Golfklub', which is a scenic and varied park court in a slightly undulating terrain, surrounded by forests and fields, and with a view of the south Funen archipelago.
Svendborg also offers a large bowling centre with go-cart tracks as well as a water world with activities for the whole family.
If you wish to explore the nature of Tåsinges on bicycle, you can rent these in Troense. Furthermore, it is possible to rent canoes and kayaks in Troense.
Worth a visit
 In Troense you can experience streets with numerous preserved half-timbers houses from the 16th. century. Don't miss one of Denmark's most beautiful castles 'Valdemars Slot', which is situated right by Troense. The castle was built in the 15th. century and contains more museums. See f.x. the collections of art, furniture and trophies as well as an interesting toy museum.
Near the castle you will find 'Ventepose Mølle' - one of the oldest watermills in the country. The preserved mill originates from the 15th. Century and belongs to the Valdemars Slot.
The museum 'Troense Søfartssamlinger' exhibits ships and photos of ships from former times.
Visit 'Tåsinge Skipperhjem og Folkemindesamling' and hear the story about the fabled love poem between the line dancer Elvira Madigan and the lieutenant Sixten Sparre, who faced death together in the year 1889 in the forest 'Nørreskoven', south of Valdemars Slot.
Excursion spots
Visit Svendborg with the preserved old town centre, the narrow and winding roads, the squares and the backyard environments. The town is influenced by its history, which goes all the way back to the early Middle Ages (7 km).
During the summer months, the beautiful vintage ship 'Helge' from the year 1924 maintains a regular service between Svendborg, Vindebyøre, Christiansminde, Troense, Grasten and the castle 'Valdemars Slot' - an unforgettable experience.
The beautiful castle 'Egeskov Slot' by Kværndrup is characterized as one of the best preserved Renaissance island forts in Europe. See the beautiful gardens, a giant maze and more museums here (21 km).
With its scenic nature and many sights, Langeland is also worth a visit. The island invites drives, bicycle trips or walks in the landscape. Every year in July the festival 'Langelandsfestival' is launched and attracts more than 20,000 visitors (21 km).
