Peaceful, cosy and scenic holiday area on the eastern side of Funen with a view of Langeland.
 Stokkebæk offers peace and quiet, idyllic nature, lovely beach, extremely good fishing opportunities in the stream Stokkebæk Å as well as a large number of castles, manor houses and cultural monuments. The small holiday area is located 4 km from the town Hesselager with shops and restaurants, and 21 km from Svendborg, which offers shops, restaurants, sights and leisure activities.
Beach
The beach of Stokkebæk is quiet and has coarse sand as well as clear child-friendly water. Behind the beach you can use the grass areas for sports and leisure activities among other things.
Nature
The area, surrounding Stokkebæk, is characterized by a lovely Funen nature with shore, fields, plantation, small woods and the idyllic stream Stokkebæk Å, which is well stocked with fish.
Just south of Stokkebæk you will find the vigorous forest Purreskov, which is located by the shore.
Activities
The beach of Stokkebæk invites beach activities and walks. It is possible to rent riding horses in the area and experience the lovely nature along the cosy bridal paths. Anglers will find really good fishing opportunities in the stream Stokkebæk Å as well as along the shore - especially towards north, where a large number of trouts sojourn in the spring. From Lundeborg, 4 km towards south, you can go fishing onboard a fishing vessel. Sails on the Great Belt (without fishing opportunities) are also offered here.
Near Gudme (7 km) you can play golf on a Pay & Play course with 9 holes, which is scenically situated in an old orchard. The nearest 18-hole golf course is available with Svendborg Golfklub, which offers a beautiful course, and from the highest points of the course you can enjoy the view of the South Funen archipelago (21 km).
Worth a visit
The church Hesselager Kirke is rather remarkable with its semicircular gable ends. The same ornamentation recurs on the estate Hesselagergård, which is scenically situated, southeast of Hesselager. The interesting building was erected in 1538-48 and can be observed from the outside (4 km).
The fabled stone `Dame-sten¿ near Hesselager is Denmark's largest loose stone with a circumference of app. 34 m and a weight of app. 1,000 ton (3 km).
The idyllically situated estate Broholm Gods (8 km) is one of the oldest manor houses in the country. By the southern moat you can visit a museum with a collection of ancient monuments, which consists of 70,000 objects, made out of flint, stone, bronze and iron, found on the fields of Broholm. The late Gothic main building has been restored and is equally open to visitors.
The memorial grove Mindelunden Gudbjerglund near Gudbjerg contains 4 long barrows from the neolithic period. The long barrows are 19-117 m long and 7 m wide (9 km).
Excursion spots
Visit Svendborg with the preserved old town centre, the narrow and winding alleys, the squares and the backyard environments. Cultural experiences, shops and restaurants are available here (21 km).
Go with the ferry from Svendborg to the idyllic and evocative island Ærø, which offers lovely beaches, beautiful nature, cosy towns and harbours as well as leisure activities and sights (app. 1½ hours sail from Svendborg).
Don¿t miss one of Denmark's most beautiful castles: Valdemars Slot near Troense. The castle was build in the 17th century and today, it contains more museum. Experience f.x. an interesting toy museum (27 km).
By the impressive castle Egeskov Slot near Kværndrup you will find a beautiful garden, a giant maze and more museums (29 km).
In the aqua centre Fjord- & Bæltcentret in Kerteminde you can experience the mysteries of the sea, seen with the eyes of a diver, from a 50 metres long underwater tunnel or get close to porpoise from the outdoor bridge (39 km).
