Langø is situated on the north-western side of the peninsula Hindsholm, which is famous for its unique nature and its rich animal life.

Just south of Fyns Hoved (the tip of Funen), and right between the sea and an inlet, this lovely holiday area with an unspoiled nature, beach, a rich bird life and good angling possibilities is situated. Furthermore, Hindsholm offers picturesque villages, large manor houses and more relics.
It is possible to buy groceries in the town Martofte, 5 km from Langø, and 16 km from Langø you will find the cosy commercial town Kerteminde, where you can shop, eat and go sightseeing.

Beach

The 1-2 km long beach in the bay by Langø is a sandy beach with stones. The water is shallow and the conditions for windsurfing are optimal as the wind from the sea blows right over the level isthmus, separating the sea from the inlet.
By Kerteminde you will find bathing beaches both south and north of the harbour. The bottoms are sandy and the beaches are very suitable for children. The water is very clear and the Blue Flag are waving on the beaches.

Nature

Langø is situated on an isthmus, which is surrounded by the sea on one side and the inlet on the other. It is possible to walk all the way out to the tip of the isthmus 'Langø Hoved'.
The peninsular 'Hindsholm' is in general characterized by a unique landscape with a rich animal and bird life. The northern part of the peninsular is an important breeding area for birds. The peninsular is very level at more places, but towards north hills and high cliffs towards the water characterize the landscape.

Activities

The area is very suitable for bicycle rides. Try f.x. the trip to the tip of the peninsula 'Fyns Hoved', where you will be impressed by the magnificent nature and the rich animal life. The northernmost tip of Hindsholm is probably one of the best fishing areas in Funen. The fishing spots lie as side by side along the coast from Langø to the tip of Fyns Hoved.
In Kerteminde you can play tennis, petanque and minigolf, waterski, dive and play beach-volley.
Furthermore it is possible to go deep-sea fishing onboard a fishing vessel from Kerteminde. From the harbour of Kerteminde you can sail out to the scenic island Romsø.
Within a radius of 35 km from Kerteminde you will find 3 golf courses by: 'Sct. Knuds Golfklub' in Nyborg, 'Odense Eventyr Golf' and 'Odense Golfklub'.


Worth a visit

At the uttermost tip of Hindsholm the gallery 'På Hovedet' is situated. The gallery is a combination of a studio, a restaurant, circus inspiration and scenic surroundings.
Between Langø and Fyns Hoved you will find the passage grave 'Mårhøj Jættestue', which is the larges grave mound in Denmark.
Viby on Hindsholm is one of the most well-preserved villages in Funen with half-timbered houses and a newly restored mill, which is running during the summer (11 km).
The 1,000-year-old Kerteminde is a vivid and charming commercial town with a fishing harbour, a large and cosy marina, interesting shops, restaurants and sights. You will sense the quite special atmosphere in the narrow alleys with the colourful small houses, the old merchant's houses and the red roofs (16 km).

Excursion spots

'Farvergården' in Kerteminde was originally an old merchant's house from the year 1630. The museum contains a living room from a farm house and from a middle class house from the year 1850 (16 km).
In the aqua centre 'Fjord- & Bæltcentret' in Kerteminde you can experience the mysteries of the sea, seen with the eyes of a diver, from a 50 metres long underwater tunnel or get close to porpoise from the outdoor bridge (16 km).
Visit the home town of H.C. Andersen, Odense, a modern and evocative town with a number of leisure potentialities (31 km).
In Odense Zoo you can see a special chimpanzee department and a large Oceanarium. 'Den Fynske Landsby' by Odense is an open-air museum, showing a Funen village environment from around the year 1850.
The terrarium in Vissenbjerg has Scandinavia's largest collection of reptiles and amphibians. More than 60 terraries with crocodiles, snakes, bird spiders and iguanas. In the garden you can see monkeys, kangaroos, raccoon and goats (53 km).
