Hov is situated at the northernmost tip of the beautiful island Langeland, a few km from Lohals, with water on 3 sides.

Hov is the answer Skagen, the northernmost tip of Jutland, but on Langeland. The island ends in a small tip in the water, and two waters meet here. From here you can enjoy a great view of The Great Belt Bridge, the coast of Funen as well as Sealand.
The holiday house area of Hov is situated in quiet and scenic surroundings, close to beach and forest. 'Frankeklint', a 14 metres high cliff is situated on the western side of Hov. On the eastside of Hov the lighthouse 'Hov Fyr' is situated. On the north coast you will find 2 lovely bathing beaches, separated by the plantation 'Hov Plantage'.
More old three-winged farms characterize the area.
Lohals offers shopping possibilities and restaurants, and here you can also experience the vivid activity and quiet charm in the marina (3 km).

Beach

All the way around the northern tip of Langeland more good and clean bathing beaches are available. The beaches 'Hov Strand' and 'Nordstranden' are the most famous bathing beaches on Langeland, and they both have fine sand and clear water.
On the western side of the tip, you will find a wide and white sandy beach, right behind the forest 'Troldeskoven'.

Nature

Hov is the most wooded part of Langeland and the scenic landscape is very undulating here.
Between the 2 beaches on the northern coast by Hov, you will find the old plantation 'Hov Plantage' with the old, black holiday houses from before the year 1920.
'Frankeklint' on the western side of Hov is a 14 metres high cliff, and here a lighthouse has also been established.
The forests 'Øster- & Vester Prisskov' as well as 'Øster- & Vester Stigtehave' separate Hov from Lohals. A marked route leads you through the forests and past historic places. A large population of roe deer inhabit this wooded island.

Activities

The lovely, wooded and undulating nature invites walks and bicycle trips in the area.
Anglers have good opportunities for coastal fishing all along the shores around Hov. Furthermore, deep-sea fishing trips are arranged from the harbour of Lohals. By Tranekær the fishpond 'Spodsbjerg Lystfiskersø' is available.
From Lohals a ferry sails to Lundeborg in Funen, and you can bring your bicycle along on a day-trip.
'Langelands Golf Klub' is situated by Humble (45 km). You can also visit the scenic golf course by Svendborg (50 km).
The yearly recurring festival 'Langelandsfestival' takes place in the month of July.

Worth a visit

In the forests 'Østre & Vestre Stigtehave' you can still see the remains of bank and terraces from the iron age.
Lohals is situated 3 km south of Hov and has its own harbour with both fishing boats and yachts. Experience the safari museum of Lohals with trophy from all over the world.
Stoense has a church and a couple of art galleries.
19 km south of Hov you will find the red castle 'Tranekær Slot'. The castle is highly situated on a hill and from here you have a great view of the town with its old half-timbered houses. An area of the castle park is called 'Ticon', and here artists exhibit their nature art. The castle museum 'Tranekær Slotsmuseum' is established in an old half-timbered house. The preserved mill 'Tranekær Slotsmølle' from the year 1846 is still running, and when the wind is right, ecological grain grinded.
'Tobaksladen' by Tranekær was used to dry tobacco leaves during World War 2. The barn has been restored in the original style and the entry is free.

Excursion spots

Visit the 700-years old marked town Rudkøbing, which has preserved its original beautiful houses. See the old part of town, the idyllic and narrow streets with the uneven cobblestones, the cosy marina 'Rudkøbing Skudehavn' and the traffic harbour 'Rudkøbing Trafikhavn'.
'Langeland Museum' in Rudkøbing exhibits ancient collections with i.a. weapons, riding gear, silver coins, glass and silver (30 km).
The former military installations 'Langelandsfortet' today function as a museum, and here you can see the canons, the bunkers and an exhibition about the cold war.
Experience the festival 'Langelands Festivalen' - a musical arrangement, which attracts more than 20,000 visitors every July. The festival offers music and activities for the whole family and is spread over four days.
