From the quiet and scenic town Faldsled on the south-western coast of Funen you can enjoy the view of the peninsula Helnæs and the Funen archipelago.
 Faldsled is situated right at the coast, and the town has its own small and cosy marina. The area, surrounding Faldsled, is peaceful and scenic, and there is only a short distance to the many activities and sights of Funen from here.
It is possible to buy groceries in the town, which also has an inn, but Fåborg, 9 km from Faldsled, offers good shopping possibilities and more restaurants.
Beach
'Strandholmen' by Faldsled is a bathing beach with sand, stones and shallow water, which makes it very suitable for children. Windsurfers will find good conditions here as well. A similar beach is available by Bøjden, 12 km from Faldsled, but here the beach is longer.
If you prefer to swim by a sandy beach with deep water, the lovely beach by Klinten, close to Fåborg, is recommendable.
Nature
The scenic nature landscape by the south Funen archipelago invites long walks, along the beach, in the forest or in the hills. Don't miss the exceptional sunset over Helnæs from Faldsled.
In the area around Horne/Fåborg you will find some lovely forest and hill landscapes with marked walking routes. From here you can enjoy the magnificent views of the landscape and see a couple of old well-preserved grave mounds from the stone age.
The area 'Svanninge Bakker' and the cove 'Bøjden Nor' have a rich bird life.
The archipelago contains a number of small and uninhabited islands, where you can enjoy nature without disturbances.
On the peninsular Helnæs the quite unique and very beautiful landscape is an experience in itself. The 3 most remarkable nature areas are 'Bobakkerne', 'Helnæs Made' and 'Feddet' (30 km).
Activities
The south Funen archipelago offers good opportunities for anglers and sailors. The Belt is also famous for its good surf conditions.
It is obvious to walk and drive on bicycle in the varying landscape.
The course of 'Faaborg Golfklub' is situated only 9 km from Faldsled. Fåborg also offers activities like tennis courts, swimming baths and petanque courts.
Worth a visit
The only round church in Funen is situated in Horne (7 km).
Visit Fåborg with the many museums, the old streets and the beautiful half-timbered houses. Here the possibilities for shopping and sightseeing are plentiful (9 km).
The flower garden 'Strandlyst' by Fåborg is a 7,500 m2 vigorous garden with i.a. a water landscape, lakes, a gorge, a cave, a Japanese tea house and a gazebo.
'Fåborg Arrest Fængselsudstilling' is the only county gaol in Denmark, which is open to the public. Here you can see an exhibition about the history of punishment, from the Middle Ages and up till today. In the basement you will find an accurate copy of an old cell.
'Fåborg Museum for Fynsk Malerkunst' is a collection of paintings and sculptures - exclusively by Funen artists.
Excursion spots
'Frydenlund Fuglepark' by Tommerup is a lovely nature park with 700 birds from the whole world, waterhole, aviaries and a 2 km long walking path, leading you under large old trees and out on the open savannah (24 km).
The beautiful castle 'Egeskov Slot' by Kværndrup is characterized as one of the best preserved Renaissance island forts in Europe. See the beautiful gardens, a giant maze and more museums here (29 km).
'Fun Park Fyn' in Aarup contains is a water world, farm animals as well as various amusements for the whole family. When the entry has been paid for, you can make use of all activities as much as you like (30 km).
Visit the home town of H.C. Andersen, Odense, a modern and evocative town with a number of leisure potentialities (37 km).
'Den Fynske Landsby' by Odense is an open-air museum, showing a Funen village environment from around the year 1850.
In Odense Zoo you can see animals and nature sceneries from all over the world.
