St. Sjørup is a cosy and quiet holiday destination in scenic surroundings.
The holiday house area St. Sjørup is situated on the northern coast of Djursland, not far from the mouth of the inlet 'Randers Fjord'. No nightlife or noises will disturb your holiday here. You will only find nature, peace and quiet. St. Sjørup is an ideal holiday area if you wish to relax, enjoy nature or perhaps fish. If you wish to do something else, the leisure activities and sights of both Randers and Djursland are at your disposal. It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and in Ørsted, about 5 km from St. Sjørup, you will find more shopping possibilities.
Beach The fine bathing beach of the Kattegat has Blue Flag. The water is shallow, which makes the beach very suitable for children. A walking path runs parallel to a small stream and leads towards the beach.
Nature The nature of the holiday house area is very varied. Here you will find lovely salt meadows, hills with juniper and heather as well as birch tree and pines. St. Sjørup is a quiet area, where you can hear the birds singing. Hills, valleys, fields, wide views, streams and the sea characterize the nature, surrounding St. Sjørup. The forest 'Løvenholm Skov' stretches in a south-easterly direction and contains the lakes 'Vallum Sø', 'Skarresø', 'Øjesø', 'Langesø', 'Stubbesø' and 'Draaby Sø'.
Activities Anglers will find good opportunities in the area, as it is possible to fish from the shore, from a boat on the sea, in the inlet 'Randers Fjord' and in the lakes and streams of the area. Throughout the summer you can go on a trip with the preserved railway line, which takes you from Allingåbro to Randers.
Worth a visit By Udbyhøj, 9 km north of St. Sjørup, you will find a historic redoubt installation from the English War in the beginning of the 19th. century. At the nature centre 'Naturcenter Randers Fjord' by Voer Færgested, about 9 km from St. Sjørup, you can learn about life in and around the inlet 'Randers Fjord' - and participate in the activities yourselves.
Excursion spots The 'rain forest' Randers Regnskov is situated about 30 km from Lystrup. Here you can experience jungle paths, rocks, crocodiles and waterfalls. Randers Regnskov lives up to its name (25 km). In the animal park 'Skandinavisk Dyrepark' you will have genuine nature experiences. From the 250 metres long footbridge you can observe the bears in the amazing bear park. The amusement park 'Djurs Sommerland' is a fun and interesting experience for the whole family. When the entry has been paid, you can make use of all activities for free. Moat, forest, fields and meadow scenically surround the castle 'Gl. Estrup' in the centre of Djursland. The castle also contains a manor house museum and an agricultural museum. An impressive sight awaits you in the aquarium 'Kattegatcentret'. Observe the fearful sharks at close range behind a thick pane of glass.
