The holiday house area Grenå Strand offers a good beach, lovely nature, quiet surroundings and walking distance to the cosy marked town Grenå.
Grenå Strand is situated right by the lovely Kattegat beach, 4 km from Grenå, which offers many sights and leisure activities. You will find rich opportunities for both sightseeing and shopping in the more than 500 years old marked town. Experience for instance the charming atmosphere of the modern marina and follow the traffic in the harbour while you dine at one of the restaurants along the waters edge.
Beach The 8 km long, sandy beach of Grenå has a sandy bottom and shallow water, which makes the beach very suitable for children. The beach has the Blue Flag and is ideal for both relaxation and activities for the whole family. Windsurfers will find very good conditions here.
Nature
The plantation 'Grenå Plantage' is a lovely nature area with varying forest and moor areas as well as an idyllic forest lake. The plantation has more paths, which invites walks. Furthermore, you will find a rich animal life here. West of Grenå you will find the sound 'Kolind Sund'. This fertile and scenic area is very popular among anglers, but it is also possible to sail in canoe in the lovely nature of the sound.
Activities A lovely gold course with challenges for both beginners and experienced is situated west of Grenå. The area offers good opportunities for anglers, as it is possible to fish from the shore and on the sea. Among others are Fornæs, north of Grenå, and the sound 'Kolind Sund', towards east, popular fishing spots. Deep-sea fishing trips onboard a fishing vessel are arranged from the harbour of Grenå. Furthermore, the largest Put & Take fishpond of Djursland is situated close to Grenå. In Grenå you can also play tennis, bowl, drive in go-carts and swim in the swimming baths of the town.
Worth a visit
Experience the beautifully preserved half-timbered houses in the old marked town Grenå. The houses can be seen more places in town, but especially in the alley 'Nederstræde' you can experience an idyllic town environment. Besides the town environment, Grenå also offers the following sights: Djursland Museum is situated in a former merchant's house, and here you can experience a collection of finds from the antiquity. An impressive sight awaits you in the aquarium 'Kattegatcentret'. Observe the fearful sharks at close range behind a thick pane of glass. On the fishery museum 'Dansk Fiskerimuseum' you can learn about boat models and engines, different fishing methods as well as the story of the fishery. Visit one of the best viewpoints of the area by the mill 'Baunhøj Mølle'. The 150 years old mill exhibits varying art collections.
Excursion spots The amusement park 'Djurs Sommerland' is a fun and interesting experience for the whole family. When the entry has been paid, you can make use of all activities for free (27 km). In 'Ree Park - Ebeltoft Safari' the animal species are divided on four continents, as they would be in nature (31 km). The frigate 'Jylland' is the largest wooden warship in the world. The hull is 71 metres long, the spread of canvas is 1,881 square metres and it weights 2,450 (31 km). The castle ruin 'Kalø Slotsruin' from the year 1313 is a famous tourist attraction. The ruin is scenically situated right by the cove of Kalø Vig (35 km). Moat, forest, fields and meadow scenically surround the castle 'Gl. Estrup'. The castle also contains a manor house museum and an agricultural museum (37 km).
