Ebeltoft is one of Denmark's oldest and most pretty towns - situated in a unique nature area.

Experience the activity and atmosphere in the cosy tourist town Ebeltoft with the narrow, charming cobbled streets and the classic, lopsided houses. Here you will also find a cosy harbour environment, many interesting shops, craftsmen's workshops, good restaurants and more sights.
In addition to the many attractions of the town, the area offers lovely, sandy beaches in the cove 'Ebeltoft Vig', the preserved nature landscape 'Mols Bjerge' as well as many excursion spots.

Beach

A couple of km towards north you will find the 2 km long sandy beach by Egsmark. The beach is very suitable for children as the water is shallow. The beach has Blue Flag and is offers good conditions for both swimming and windsurfing.
Towards east you will find the beach of Boeslum - the best bathing beach on Djursland. The beach has fine sand, a sandy bottom, waves and good surf possibilities.

Nature

In the immediate vicinity of Ebeltoft you will find more green recreational area, i.a. the scenic, undulating forest area 'Handrup Bakker' as well as the plantations 'Skramsø Plantage' and 'Fruerlund Plantage'. The plantations situate the lake 'Stubbe Sø'.
About 12 km north of Ebeltoft the area 'Mols Bjerge' (the mountains of Mols) is situated. The area is a magnificent and preserved nature landscape with a varying nature, a number of walking paths, grave mounds and a rich animal life. Thick forest is replaced by open moorland hills and you can enjoy a great view of Mols, the Kattegat as well as the coves 'Kalø Vig' and 'Ebeltoft Vig' from the viewpoints 'Agri Bavnehøj' (137 m) and 'Trehøje' (127 m).
Between Øer and Elsegårde, south-east of Ebeltoft, you will find a large moorland area. Here you will find many rare and preserved animal and plant species. In other respects the terrain is undulating, which provides you with good views of the landscape and the sea.

Activities

Anglers will find good opportunities along the shores as well as in the Put & Take fishponds of the area. It is possible to go deep-sea fishing onboard a fishing vessel from the harbour of Ebeltoft.
From the scenic and hilly golf course of the club 'Ebeltoft Golfklub' you can enjoy the view of the cove 'Ebeltoft Vig' and the nature area 'Mols Bjerge'.
Experience the nature from the bicycle along the bicycle paths all the way along the cove of Ebeltoft.
If the bathing weather should let you down, the swimming baths 'Ebeltoft Svømmehal' offers a Turkish bath, massage, solarium and much more.

Worth a visit

An interesting museum of local history has been established in the old town hall of Ebeltoft.
The glass museum 'Glasmuseet' contains an acknowledged collection of modern, international glass art.
The frigate 'Jylland' is the largest wooden warship in the world. The hull is 71 metres long, the spread of canvas is 1,881 square metres and it weights 2,450.
In 'Ree Park - Ebeltoft Safari' the animal species are divided on four continents, as they would be in nature. Experience the fantastic spectacle over the savannah with the many different animals.
The old, idyllic village Elsegårde with its own village pond is situated 6 km from Ebeltoft.
The area, surrounding Ebeltoft, is rich in castles and manor houses. The estate 'Møllerup Gods' and the castle 'Kalø Slot' among others are situated near by.
The castle ruin 'Kalø Slotsruin' from the year 1313 is a famous tourist attraction. The ruin is scenically situated right by the cove of Kalø Vig.

Excursion spots

In the animal park 'Skandinavisk Dyrepark' you will have genuine nature experiences. From the 250 metres long footbridge you can observe the bears in the amazing bear park (24 km).
The amusement park 'Djurs Sommerland' is a fun and interesting experience for the whole family. When the entry has been paid, you can make use of all activities for free (28 km).
An impressive sight awaits you in the aquarium 'Kattegatcentret'. Observe the fearful sharks at close range behind a thick pane of glass (31 km).
Moat, forest, fields and meadow scenically surround the castle 'Gl. Estrup'. The castle also contains a manor house museum and an agricultural museum (40 km).
Visit Århus, the 'capital' of Jutland, with the amusement park 'Tivoli Friheden', the open-air museum 'Den Gamle By', the music house 'Musikhuset', the small and intimate alleys of the Latin Quarter, the cosy pedestrian streets, the lively atmosphere by stream 'Vadestedet' as well as the forest 'Marselisborgskoven' (50 km).
