Amalienborg
|
|
During the winter the Danish royal couple reside on the rococo castle Amalienborg, which is a masterpiece within Danish building art. The octagonal square with the equestrian statue of king Frederik V is surrounded by the four, almost identical palaces. Two of these palaces are open to the public: The palace of Christian VIII, which has been converted into a museum, and the palace of Christian VII, in which occasional special exhibition are arranged. Usually you are able to experience the changing of the lifeguards in front of the castle each day at noon.
