Nylars Rundkirke

Nylars RundkirkeThe church 'Nylars Rundkirke' was build in the 12th. century and is situated about 10 km south-east of Rønne. The rotunda of the church has a diameter of 11 metres. An opening in the floor proves that the church was formerly used with the purpose of defence and as a storage place for supplies. At the centre column of the nave you can see frescos, which originate from the period 1275-1300. By the porch you will find two runic stones and in the cemetery you can experience a 6.4 metres high bell frame, made out of raw granite boulders.
