Kronborg Slot
The castle Kronborg Slot is one of the most distinguished Renaissance castles in Northern Europe with a unique location by the sound Øresund. The story of the castle dates back to the 1420'ies. It is famous because parts of Shakespeare's Hamlet took place here and today, it is one of Denmark's most important culture-historical attractions. The appearance of the castle is a mixture of an elegant royal palace and a brutal fortress. Inside you are able to admire the art of the Renaissance and the Baroque. The interior bear witness of the lifestyle and value norms of value Royalty. There is public access to the King's and the Queen's stateroom on the 2nd floor as well as a number of interesting rooms on the 3rd floor - among these the impressive dance hall. Furthermore, you can observe the statue of the slumbering Holger Danske, who will wake up if Denmark is threatened - according to the legend. The maritime museum 'Handels- og Søfartsmuseet' can also be visited at the castle.
