A canoe trip on the stream Gudenåen is ideal for a family with older children. Rent a canoe and go exploring. Don't forget to enjoy the many sights on the way: Åle Kær is a large lake and bird sanctuary, an here you can study the many birds. The old hydroelectric plant Vestbirk, which is still in operation, and the 108-metres high viewpoint Sukkertoppen are also worth seeing. An extremely interesting experience is the sail through the canal Klosterkanalen, which was dug out in the 13h century in connection with a monastery mill in order to be able to utilize the hydraulic power even better.
