Ry Kanofart

In Ry, Tørring or Silkeborg you can go on board a canoe, and go exploring the 160 km long stream Gudenåen. With a speed of app. 3 km/h you can travel about 15-20 kilometres a day. Spend the night on one of the many camping or tent grounds by the banks of the stream and sail on the next day. Keep an eye out for the many sights on the way! You can experience sights like f.x. the old hydroelectric plant Vestbirk, which is still in operation, as well as the 108 metres high viewpoint Sukkertoppen. At trip through the canal Klosterkanalen, which was build in connection with a convent mill in the 13th century in order to get a better utilization of the hydraulic power, is equally an interesting experience.
