Palmestranden

In the summer of 2004 the palm beach Palmestranden was established by the northern shore of Frederikshavn. The 400 m long and 30-50 m wide beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag and with its pure and clear water as well as its sheltered dunes and hollows it is very child-friendly. A stone dike in the sea fences against large waves. The number of palms is increased each year. In 2007 no less than 90 3-4 m high flax and date palms ensure southern atmosphere and shade on the beach. Furthermore, the beach offers exotic seaweed parasols at free disposal, sun beds with coin insertion, beach volley and beach handball courses, beach bar, ice-cream stall as well as lifeguard tower with lifeguards during the high season.
The palm beach is open from June to September. The rest of the year the palm trees are stored in a greenhouse.
