Naturskolen Åløkkestedet

The nature school Åløkkestedet is located on the fringe of Funen's largest gravel pit area, Tarup-Davinde, southeast of Odense. The raw materials, which were deposited in 5-20 cm thick layers of stone, gravel and sand by the melt water of the ice age, are extracted here. After the termination of the gravel digging, the area appears like a slightly undulating landscape with many lakes. Large parts of this nature area offer public access, room for leisure activities and good nature experiences. It is allowed to fish without charge in some of the lakes. You can rent canoes and reserve shelters for primitive camping. It is also possible to take part in a public tour in the area. Guided tours can be attended against payment. The nature school Åløkkestedet displays an exhibition about the geology, nature and birdlife of the area. Furthermore, varying special exhibitions can be enjoyed here.
